“All I do is win!”
Last night, President Obama’s swag was on 100 as he stepped up to the podium to deliver his speech at the White House Correspondents Dinner, and he ended up giving media that attended more than they bargained for. After switching his entry music from the traditional presidential music to DJ Khaled’s “All I Do Is Win,” he made the comment, “Rush Limbaugh warned you about this — second term, baby. We’re changing things around here a little bit.”
He went on to poke fun at the many times he made headlines in the press (for things such as missing shots at the Easter Egg Roll and saying that attorney general Kamala Harris was the best-looking attorney general in the country), before the topic ventured onto Jay-Z and Beyonce’s controversial and highly publicized trip to Cuba.
So, yes, maybe I have lost a step. But some things are beyond my control. For example, this whole controversy about Jay-Z going to Cuba — it’s unbelievable. I’ve got 99 problems and now Jay-Z is one.
As you may remember, as soon as Jay and Bey returned from their Cuba, Jay released a rap song referencing the trip while saying that he had clearance from the White House. He also threw Obama’s name in a few lines by saying, “Obama said chill ‘You gonna get me impeached’ … We don’t need this s**t anyway chill with me on the beach.”
The media jumped all over the lyrics which resulted in the press secretary holding a briefing to shoot down Jay-Z’s claims. He said, “I guess nothing rhymes with Treasury because Treasury offers and gives licenses for travel, as you know, and the White House has nothing to do with it.” President Obama was asked about the Cuba trip on The Today Show, and he also brushed it off by saying, “We’ve got better things to do.”
In other words, ‘You gon’ learn today!’
Jay may wanna chill on the Obama references for now.
