Timing is de.ned as the ability to select the precise moment for doing something to obtain optimum effect. Born in Richmond, VA and raised in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, DJ Afrodjiak has spent the last few years mastering the art of timing and it is now paying off – big time!

Fxture in the Philadelphia nightlife scene in less than her eight years as a resident. She credits her success as an energetic deejay and producer to solid family roots, hard work, a faith-.lled vision and determination. AfroDJiak’s conspicuous mixes and head-nodding blends have ultimately assisted her in becoming one of Philadelphia’s most sought after deejays. In the past, she has worked to expand her skills as a deejay and artist through one-on-one work with her peers, teaching youth workshops and with internships throughout the city. She has assisted in sound at The Khyber Sounds and The Batcave Studios, as well as assisted in the former Philadelphia offices of OkayPlayer.
AfroDJiak has created a dynamic career as a deejay, promoter and producer whose energy proliferates various media entities and many more to come. AfroDJiak has spun alongside many notable Philadelphia and regional deejays and has spun opening sets for artists such as Black Thought, The Cool Kids, The $ Makin’ Jam Boys, Hezekiah, Tanya Morgan and Ethel Cee. She has been requested to participate in two of Philadelphia’s most well-known women’s festivals, The Black Lily Film & Music Festival and the 2009 Ladies of Hip Hop Festival. She serves as a radio deejay for the “Da Cave” Radio Show, a Wednesday night 3-hour program on Drexel University’s own WKDU 91.7 FM radio. As of 2011, she has become a guest personality and bi-monthly deejay for 100.3fm’s “Batcave Radio” with P-Funk, Dona D and Ruggedness.
Afrodjiak, whose given name is Jamica El, has over six years of deejay experience, exceptional mixing skills, stage production experience and is rather knowledgeable of music, engineering, the physics of sound and music production. In 2010 she teamed up with Stacey “Flygirrl” Wilson and Laiya St.Clair to present “Inside the Studio”, a production of their company It’s The Life Creative, LLC. Here she serves as a Producer and as the Music Director of their collaborative efforts. “Inside the Studio” has featured artists such as Black Thought, Marsha Ambrosius and Philly production duo, Carvin and Ivan. The event has also gained the support of city-wide organizations such as The African-American Museum of Philadelphia and Philly 360. Amongst Afrodjiak’s latest endeavors is a media content company, Kingsessing Media Group, LLC and an online periodical exploring the local music scene, Philadelphia Music Magazine. DJ Afrodjiak has been selected as one of the 2011 Philly 360 Creative Ambassadors by the Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corp.
